Rolling back a release

If a release goes wrong, go back to an earlier version and publish again.

Things go wrong after publishing. The fix should take minutes, not a rebuild.

Rolling back

Automo Build supports rollback to an earlier state of your app. Find the last version known to be good, restore it, and publish. You can also ask in the chat: "the last release broke sign-in, roll back to the version before it."

Confirm it worked

Open the live address in a private window and repeat the task that broke.

If the app is up but data looks wrong, the problem is in the data, not the code, and a code rollback will not fix it. See Versions and restore.

Telling people

If customers saw the problem, say what happened and what is fixed, in plain language. "Sign-in was failing for about ten minutes. It is fixed and no accounts were affected" is better than saying nothing.

Afterwards, find the cause

Ask in the chat what changed in the release that broke. Doctor can also help diagnose problems on the live app. Add the fix as its own change, then publish normally.

Next: Doctor.
