# Doctor

> A read-only AI SRE that diagnoses problems on the live app and drafts the fix.

Doctor watches your app after it ships. When something goes wrong, it probes the live app, works out the root cause and drafts a fix for a person to approve.

## How Doctor works

- **Read-only.** Doctor investigates without changing anything.
- **Evidence first.** It gathers evidence from the systems involved and attaches citations, so you can see why it reached its conclusion.
- **Root cause, not symptoms.** It separates what you are seeing, such as intermittent errors, from what is causing it.
- **Draft fix.** It proposes a change and waits for human approval before anything is applied.

## When to use it

Use Doctor when the live app misbehaves and the cause is not obvious: errors that come and go, slow pages, or a deployment that did not behave as expected.

## Working with a diagnosis

Read the root cause and the evidence, then approve the fix, ask for a different approach, or [roll back](/publish/rolling-back) while you decide.
